Robert de Harley was the last Lord to live in Harley.
A speculative note. The first Lord to take the name ‘de Harley’ was Malcoline who was Lord from 1180 to 1209, a period of 29 years. So was Malcoline the first resident Lord of the Manor in Harley? If so there was a resident Lord of the Manor from 1180 to 1349, a period of 169 years.
However, 1180 is 114 years after the Conquest. We know that Edward and Hernulf were Malcoline’s ancestors and that they were were Lords of the Manor from 1107 to 1179. So could they have been the first resident Lords from 34 years after the Conquest? If this is correct then there was a resident Lord of the Manor for 247 years.
Also there is a note that Helgot held a Manor prior to the Conquest. Helgot, therefore was a Saxon. There is no mention of him in Domesday.
